A national gay rights legal group has filed a federal lawsuit challenging Arizona’s ban on same-sex marriage. Lambda Legal filed the lawsuit on the heels of challenges to others states’ gay marriage bans.
Arizona voters approved a same-sex marriage ban in 2008. Some recent polls, however, have shown voters’ attitudes shifting on the issue.
Gov. Jan Brewer recently vetoed Senate Bill 1062 after opposition arose to the religious business measure from LGBT groups and business interests.
The lawsuit was filed in Phoenix on behalf of some same-sex couples, according to the Associated Press.
